3D Printing Workshop

July 16-20, 12:30-3:00 p.m.
Participants: Rising 7th graders through 12th graders (limit of 20 students)
Location: Upper School, Room 115

Summary
In this workshop, students will be introduced to and trained on the Autodesk Inventor software in order to create and print three-dimensional objects. They will learn to create two-dimensional sketches on a work plane and to use the additive/subtractive methods of extrude, revolve, sweep, and loft to create three-dimensional objects from those two-dimensional sketches.

Students will also learn mirroring and patterning techniques to replicate geometric designs in two and three dimensions. If time permits, they will learn how to create assemblies by applying constraints to individually created part files. Through this workshop, students will gain a broader understanding of how mathematics, engineering, and art converge. At the end of the week, each student may print one of their 3D designs to take home as a souvenir.

Instructor: Andrew Groves, Trinity Upper School math teacher
June 2014: Earned certification to teach Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) at  Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Core Training

Congratulations Kristina Coleman!

What a fantastic moment as Kristina Coleman signed her Letter of Intent with the University of Findlay as her fellow students, parents, coaches, and teammates look on!

While at Trinity, Kristina ran Cross Country and Track for five years. She helped Trinity win several KCAA Cross Country championships and plans to swim at the University of Findlay with emphasis on the breast stroke. Sitting to her right is swimming club coach, Coach Chris.
