Learning to Serve: Sarah Kinnicutt

Sarah Kinnicutt, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Fred Kinnicutt, is a 2010 graduate of Trinity. Sarah graduated from the Honors Program at Western Kentucky University. She majored in French and obtained a minor in non-profit administration and English as a second language. In school, Sarah excelled academically and will always possess the love for learning. When speaking to Sarah, it is evident her greatest love is her Lord Jesus Christ.
I have fond memories of Sarah working as my assistant on the Lower School plays. I would share with her what we needed for the drama, and she would accomplish every task successfully. Her organizational skills and ability to multi-task are second to none! I still miss my Sarah!
After graduating from WKU in 2014, Sarah worked with Lexington’s Sister Cities Program. She lived in Deauville, France, from September 2014 to July 2015. She taught English to children in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade in one of the city’s elementary schools. Sarah also assisted the school in lunch duty, after school care, and tutoring. She loved being able to use and practice her French.
Sarah moved back to Bowling Green, KY, in 2015 and served as an intern in the Methodist church she attended while in college. She worked with the Methodist campus ministry at WKU and at The Foundry, a non-profit organization for high-risk families. Sarah knew she had a heart for serving others, and she knew the Lord was calling her to missions.
In 2017, Sarah applied to a Christian organization, SCORE, and was accepted into its International Gap Year program. She was assigned to work in the Dominican Republic from August 2017 to May 2018. Sarah is now working at the Lily House, a home for women who have left human trafficking. This three-year program teaches the women to live on their own, work independently, and pay rent and household bills. In addition, the women are taught various work skills, such as jewelry making, computer skills, housekeeping, baking, etc. Sarah’s position is to teach women how to bake food items which can be sold in the marketplace for income. Even though Sarah derives much joy from teaching these women life skills, her greatest joy is sharing the love of Jesus with them through Bible study and discipleship.
Sarah spoke highly of her years at Trinity and was very prepared for all aspects of college and life beyond school. She said writing thesis papers, public speaking, and Mr. Beatty’s Bible classes equipped her academically and spiritually.
Sarah plans to move back to Lexington in May after spending a year in the Dominican Republic. When asked what’s next, Sarah smiled and said she would like to lead and direct short-term mission trips. In preparing people for these trips, Sarah would like to teach about the culture of the country before the missionaries are sent out to serve.
God in His sovereignty has a perfect plan for my sweet Sarah! He has gifted her and equipped her to serve His people with a joyful heart, a heart that is totally committed to her Lord and Savior.

Dance Gold is a dance-a-thon at Trinity Christian Academy. All of the funds raised will go to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, which provides specialized treatment for any child regardless of ability to pay.
Dance Gold is from 4-10 p.m., Saturday, on March 24, at Tates Creek Presbyterian Church’s gym.
